I could not wake up one more morning and look at my, bathroom-explosion-o'-make-up...
I don't like seeing too much make-up on counters and I would love if it could all be tucked away, safely inside a drawer...BUT
#1 I have way too much make-up to that (every girls loves this problem...ha ha ha!)
#2 I have little hands in my house that would empty, smear, dump out..any and all things colorful
So finally I spent almost 4, LONG, NOT FUN, hours, organizing, cleaning, and trying to find little storage things to put eyeshadows, lipsticks, lipglosses...you name it...away!!!
this was me..hating the cleaning and organizing (2 hours in)it's a little bathroom...you wouldn't know how much make-up I had to go through....I'd think I was done, and I'd walk into my room and see another bag or box full of make-up...or I'd find my make-up for my kit (the make-up I use on jobs for film or photoshoots, or celeb appearances)...and have to go put that away.....
It's done and I should go buy myself an ice cream! ha ha ha
the one thing that did help....I LISTENED to the KASKADE (dance music) station on PANDORA.... (if you haven't downloaded PANDORA onto your phone or computer...DO IT RIGHT NOW...you can pick any band or song and they play similar music...I love it!!!! go to pandora.com, I think....and add KASKADE as a station.....!!!)

yeah but don't you feel SOOOOOO much better now that its organized? i love it. its a feeling of inner peace and a COMPLETE stress-buster!

it's with my room and not my bathroom (even though i've got tons o makeup/hair crap too and my bathroom is seriously teeny like just me can fit and i'm 5'0" and pretty thin)
but i've got a bajillion clothes XD and a nice sized room but no where to put everything.
so you're bathroom clean up time is the same as my room clean up time lol.

I went and transformed my entire closet of clothing from spring/summer clothing to fall/winter clothing. I have WAY too many articles of clothing. It's realllly bad!
I feel your pain Kandee! Although my cleaning only took about an hour or an hour and a half tops. Still..hangers were not very nice to me today!

lol, my room gets messy, too! I like the feeling of seeing my room so nice and clean, I just hate when I can't find stuff that I need because I misplaced it (and took out my "organized mess")! I love Kaskade, it's my work music--make-up/prep for a hot night out, house clean-up, study. I hope you rewarded yourself for a task well-done with your ice cream or other goodie!

little hands will get into it....do you have kids???? but i have the same problem i have 2 girls and they love playing in my make up so i just got them there own set a drawers with cheaper make up and they know that is what they can go into...
Hi Kandee! I LOVE the counter space in your bathroom! I have an old 1940's bathroom (original tile too) with no counter space, so my makeup is stored in an antique spice cabinet on the wall. It has little drawers that hold eyeshadows and other things. It's really fun. I tried to organize it recently, but still need to figure out what to put with what. Also, it helps keep me from buying too much (although I'm eyeing some of the new creme shadows from Illamasqua.)Congratulations on your organizing project! Hope it makes it easy to find everything! :)
One thing I've learned to make stuff look super neat is to NEVER LET ANYTHING just lie around - in a drawer, on a counter, etc. ALWAYS put it into either a basket, small decorative box, or zipper bags.
Also short glass vases to store things like brushes look GORGEOUS! Dollar stores and walmart are GREAT for these - cheap and always look super cute, modern, easy to clean, etc - and if the vase is TOO tall, just fill it with those clear glass rocks to take up some space on the bottom. Another idea for getting these cheap is to go on craigslist.com - click your area and type in "wedding centerpieces" or "wedding vases" - a lota the time brides buy super expensive vases and then find they just wana get rid of them and try to get some money back for it. Often times they sell these guys for a fraction of the price and they're ALWAYs beautiful.
Here's what I did when I had a big cluttered mess - I found I used pretty much the same makeup most of the time - the lipcolors and eyeshadows varied but usually among like 3-4 colors. So...I went through and picked the stuff I used mostly - my nude eyeshadows, a few mascaras, one basic eyeliner, my usual foundation, usual blush/bronzer, lipglosses, etc. - put that in a box under my sink - I just use a shoebox - but I'm DEFF gona have to upgrade to this: http://www.containerstore.com/shop/bath/cosmeticsOrganizers/countertop?productId=10009895
Everything else got ordered and put into empty, unused shoe boxes and ordered according to colors - like one would be the dark lipstick box the other light lipsticks. Then for eyeshadows I found smaller boxes and fit them inside and put all my purples into one smaller box, blues in another, greens, nudes, blacks, etc etc. These were then stacked in my clothing closet way up on a high shelf.
Now if I'm in a hurry I just pull out the "every day makeup" box and use that. If I'm going to a party and looking for my favorite purple eyeshadow, I go into my closet and dig up that particular color I'm looking for.
I LOVE shoe boxes - I also keep my jewelry in one (another collection I have way too much of) - I cut slits into the top of all 4 sides of the box and stick my earrings so they dangle off the sides towards the inside (in case they fall out it's into the box) - rings, bracelets, watches, necklaces and everything else goes into the box itself - makes it SOOOO easy to choose what earrings I'm gona go with that day!
Kande you should also consider getting one of these guys - like for eyeshadow maybe? It'd be perfect if you put a label on them like "Light yellow shadows, dark yellow, light orange, dark orange,...black, grey, white":

Ugh. You reminded me that I have to start sorting stuff for our move, specifically clothes. I have so many clothes that I have nowhere to put them so they sit in piles everywhere. Ugh ugh ugh.
Also, I wish I even had that much makeup to throw away (referring to your wastebasket in picture #1). Lol.

I feel your pain!! I haven't cleaned my room or bathroom in FOREVER! I guess that's what I'm gonna be doin tomorrow. Ugh. I hate the cleaning proccess but its totally worth it in the end. Oh and thank you soooo much for making the video about how to do your makeup for school pictures cause I had pictures today and they turned out great because of you! Thanks so much!

I recently had to do the same thing. So i went to wal-mart and bought office desk-top pencil holders and such for all my makeup, and it worked out great! Looks like you did some serious cleaning though. I bet you feel great now that its all done.

A little unrelated, but I ordered un-petroleum and St. Tropez mousse bronzer and I love them, and Now - I Love you!! Thanks! I have normal/combination skin and it doesnt irritate it all.
